What They Needed: DIY:MKE needed a complex app which handles submissions for listings, processes the submissions, flags them for review where appropriate, stores, and retrieves the listings. They also needed minimal blogging capabilities, detailed error reporting, and an admin dashboard which offered user administration and the ability to edit and remove listings.
How I Helped: I built out the app in two sections: the front end and the dashboard. Front end functionality was designed to send submissions to the back end, grab and display listings, and store listings. The front end also has a search feature. On the back end (admin panel or dashboard), administrators are able to review, edit, and delete listings, contact the listing owner directly from the app, view site stats, and perform user administration. I helped DIY:MKE develop and test their app with a small team of beta testers. Through iterative design, we're now rebuilding the app to offer more functionality and present a better face.
